Tasmania's attractive north-east corner is indeed a plentiful pocket - waterfalls, wineries, gorges and those striking oversized orange lichen-cloaked boulders set atop azure seas. This area, known as the Bay of Fires, has earned its spot in the world's hottest destinations. Those travelling there often take it upon themselves to do an arduous multi-day trek by foot, camping along the Bay of Fires' rocky coastline. But if your Tasmanian adventure is via a hired car and satellite navigation, you'll need somewhere to rest your weary head between winery hopping, beach dipping and taking photographs of big boulders...

HISTORY LESSON

Tasmanian-born couple Tom Dicker and Anna Hoffmann opened Bay of Fires Bush Retreat in 2016, transforming it into a tourism accommodation destination after having acquired the 24 acres of land in 2000. Anna has an environmental design degree and Tom was formerly a highly regarded local chef, and they both holidayed around the area as kids.

Fast forward to 2023, and the Bay of Fires Bush Retreat is a well-oiled machine, with a solid team tending to this camp.
