Handy helper
I have had either knitting or crochet on the go for more years than I care to remember. Apart from my needles and hooks, I have one favoured trusty tool that I use daily, and that is my pattern line magnifier. A fellow crafter saw it this week and commented that it was a useful tool, and asked where I got it. I actually looked at it properly for once and found it had been a free gift from Woman's Weekly - which I have also bought for more years than I care to remember! I wonder how many other readers still have and use theirs? Dorothy Hawkins, Harrogate
GIFTING IDEA
It is often a problem to know what to give friends and family members as gifts, especially now in these difficult times. Sometimes what you give and receive are not really needed or even wanted. So it is worth considering making a donation to a charity on their behalf. Ripple Effect (rippleeffect.org) is a charity helping struggling families in Africa. Donations will buy an array of gifts from seeds to animals, to help families help themselves. You can order a card to send to your friend or family member showing what your donation has bought on their behalf. There are many other worthwhile charities too, which would really benefit from this kind of gift. Valerie Crossley, Pevensey Bay
