This acrobatic bearded tit looks right at home in the reed beds of RSPB Blacktoft Sands, in the East Riding of Yorkshire. Careful management of these special wetlands has led to a hugely successful year for the birds, with 500 chicks raised by 120 parent pairs. Bitterns, cranes and spoonbills are also flourishing in the environment, which brings other natural benefits such as locking in carbon and reducing the flood risk for nearby homes. * rspb.org.uk
