Becca’s heart fluttered as she turned into her drive and her new neighbor waved, his smile radiant and sincere as he ducked into his garage. Four months had passed, and she still didn’t know his name—but boy, was he nice to look at.
Granny called him “cute.” Good taste, Granny, Becca thought, smiling as she grabbed their pizza and went inside. There, she found Granny peeking out the blinds of the living room window.
“Granny, you have to sit and rest that knee if you want it to heal. Doctor’s orders,” she said with a grin.
“Oh, hush,” Granny waved away Becca’s concern, then added, “Granny’s orders are to bring that handsome neighbor of yours some of that pizza.” Her eyes twinkled mischievously as Becca made her way toward the window.
Her neighbor had reappeared from his garage, the sun catching the highlights in his brown hair and the flex of his biceps as he guided his lawn mower out. A chuckle from Granny derailed her thoughts.
“Come on—let’s eat this pie before it gets cold,” Becca said, helping Granny into the kitchen. Becca had convinced her to spend the week while she recovered from a fall. The company was refreshing. After all, opening Becca’s Pizzeria had demanded all her time, and a relationship hadn’t been in her thoughts. Granny, on the other hand, thought of nothing else apparently.
