A HAVEN FOR IMAGINATION
Harper's BAZAAR Singapore
|March 2025
In her beautiful brickwork home that is centred around a garden, Jamie QQ Wu has created a space where art and design flourish.
When you first enter the property in Bukit Timah, you are greeted by an impressive brick facade at the end of a long tiled driveway, flanked on both sides by manicured shrubbery. It creates a sense of almost hushed privacy for those dwelling inside. Jamie QQ Wu, a fashion personality, entrepreneur and the co-founder of ModaMorphosis, a multidisciplinary art and fashion company, lives in this secluded haven with her husband Anthony, and their two young children, Archie, five and Eden, three.
Wu, a Shangahinese who relocated to Singapore some seven years ago is known for her impeccable personal style, but also for her love of art and fashion design. Following a fast-paced lifestyle in Shanghai, Wu credits Singapore with giving her the room to pursue more creative endeavours. "It was coming to Singapore that gave me breathing space and made me stop and think about what I actually wanted to achieve. And the relatively slower pace gave me room for imagination and creativity. I don't know why life took me here, but it did."
Part of these endeavours include transforming her home into an art gallery that is open to the public during Singapore Art Week. Dubbed the "Enter Eden" series, it has welcomed more than 300 guests each time, over four editions. When I enter the airy living space, the first thing I notice are dramatic abstract paintings on raw canvas that punctuate the tall walls of the space. She explains that these are the works of Indonesian painter Nani Wijaya, whom she represents along with her partner, Christina Chua of Metis Art.
