Era not fit for birth of a child

THE horrifying symbol of the Israeli army's latest bombardment of Gaza was the tiny baby, dressed in a sweet romper suit, lying dead and alone on the cold hard floor of a destroyed building.

Every one of the spineless world leaders who have failed to do enough to prevent the cruel deaths of thousands of Palestinian children - or to do enough to make the killers accountable - will be remembered and recorded as having been fully complicit in a brutal, lawless era.

An era devoid of humanity, equality and justice. An era not fit for any child to be born into.

Sheila Wilkes, Helston, Cornwall

Every day we hear of the horrors happening in Gaza and think it cannot get any worse. This week it has, with Israel destroying the Strip's only specialist cancer hospital. What is the point of the UN and other groups set up to help if they have no powers to do so?

Even during the ceasefire, Israel continued the killing, trying to make us believe Hamas were their targets. If Hamas released the hostages would Israel also release the Palestinians they are holding?
