CHELSEA FLOP SET TO RETURN TO TOP-FLIGHT THIS WEEK AS POSTECOGLOU GETS TRANSFER BALL ROLLING

WERNER SPURS DEAL NEARING COMPLETION

TOTTENHAM are expected to complete the signing of Timo Werner this week, after positive talks between the former Chelsea forward and Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs have agreed to sign Werner on a six-month loan deal from RB Leipzig, with an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season for around €15-20million (£13-17m).

Werner is set to complete a medical and be in the squad for Sunday's Premier League match at Manchester United, with Spurs covering his wages in full for the duration of the loan.

United also expressed an interest in the versatile 27-year-old, but Werner was won over during a call with Spurs head coach Postecoglou, who has convinced him he can revitalise his career back in London.

Werner is widely considered a flop at Chelsea, despite winning the 2021 Champions League, after joining the Blues in a £45m move from Leipzig a year earlier. He scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea, and returned to his former club in 2022.
