Young runner Uys aims for silver in his first attempt

FROM the age of 15, Ruan Uys set his sights on one day completing the Comrades Marathon, and today he aims to finish his debut race with a silver medal.

Ruan, 20, from Pretoria, is the youngest male competitor in this year’s iconic ultra-marathon.

“I am feeling a bit nervous, but I know I am well prepared to take on this challenge. At the age of 15 when I watched the race on TV, I knew this was what I wanted to do.”
