Veteran's strange assist helps Leeds KO champs

RYAN HALL celebrated his 500th appearance with a bizarre headed winning assist as Leeds downed champions Wigan.

The veteran England winger (right) inadvertently put head to ball when challenging for Jake Connor's high kick.

But it perfectly bounced into the path of Jack Sinfield who picked up and dived over in the 66th minute. Connor held his nerve to slot the match-winning conversion in another thrilling Super League contest.

Hall, 37, is more renowned for his prolific strike rate as both Super League and England's record try-scorer.

But on that surreal headed set-up, the big Leeds United fan admitted: "I've played 500 games - and I've never done that!
