HAVING endured the role of back-up goalkeeper more often than he would have liked, you can understand why Stuart Moore is relishing his opportunity to seize the gloves at Morecambe.

The recently-turned 29-year-old joined the Shrimps in the summer on a one-year deal. It's the continuation of a long and winding journey for the Isle of Wight-born keeper, whose older brother Simon plays between the sticks for Coventry.

While on the books of Reading, Moore had loan spells with Hungerford, Bashley, Gloucester, Bath, Basingstoke, Peterborand Luton. Since leaving, he has served Barrow, Swindon, MK Dons, Wealdstone, Blackpool and Doncaster (loan).

Bagging a permanent starting spot has proved difficult, but Moore is hoping for a change of fortunes now that he's joined a Morecambe outfit determined to fight for promotion back to League One after relegation last term.
