Archer on target as the Tigers triumph

SHEFFIELD Tigers took the honours in a clash between two teams attempting to move away from the bottom half of the table, thanks to a late try by William Archer.

The visitors’ victory was secured after they came back from being one point down in the 63rd minute to score two tries in the last 15 minutes and secure a vital victory and leave an enterprising Hull side with nothing to show for their spirited efforts.

Hull started well and, after early pressure, Sheffield were penalised in front of their posts, with full-back Fynlay Hobson kicking an early penalty.

With their forwards securing good ball, Hull continued to look threatening, and following a line-out on the halfway line, Hull prop Tom Bairstow burst 40 yards up field and then centre Harry Dawkins made room for Hobson who sailed in for a try to the right of the posts but was unable to make the conversion after 18 minutes.
