Louie Gulley experienced the environment of England U20s’ World Championship triumph up close this summerand now has a burning desire to become an age-grade star. The 19-year-old Exeter Chiefs hooker was part of Mark Mapletoft’s squad but didn’t manage to make an appearance during the tournament.
He recognised the valuable experience of being surrounded by world champions but is eyeing a starting place in next year’s U20s Six Nations.
“It was incredible, to win it was something else,” Gulley told The Rugby Paper. “It was great being out there supporting the lads. I didn’t get the game time but it was an amazing experience. You can never take that for granted. It’s really pushed me on to hopefully get a starting jersey of my own. Being so close builds a fire within you to go and want to put yourself out there. Hopefully, this year that will come and I can get the game time I’m craving.”
