GARMIN CAMPER 1095

This superb sat-nav is ideal for caravanners, says Sarah Wakely
-
CARAVAN SAT-NAV has come a long way in the past few years. It used to be that they simply offered basic guidance for larger vehicles, but they've now become more comprehensive, with the best sat-nav models letting you locate campsites and great places nearby, see live traffic updates and much more.
That's where Garmin comes in - it's a big, well-respected name in the sat-nav market, and its Camper is held in high regard. It regularly appears in the round-up of the best leisure vehicle sat-navs on our website.
We were keen to get to grips with the latest iteration of the Camper 1095, specifically designed for caravans and motorhomes. It's the biggest model in the Camper range, with a 10in screen (8in and 7in units are also available).
Straight out of the box, it's clear how big the 1095 feels. It's solid and, at more than half a kilogram, reassuringly sturdy.
I found affixing it to the windscreen easy, thanks to its suction-and-magnetic-mount system. I chose to position the screen horizontally, but it can be used vertically.
You also get a screw-down mount, an adhesive dashboard disc and a 1in ball adapter for other mounting options, as well as the power cable (which fits into your tow car's 12V socket), a USB cable and a clear manual.
