Intelligent and Energetic

Border Collie

It is said that Border Collies are the most intelligent of all dogs. This breed has a natural ability to learn and has an unwavering work ethic that has placed him in a position of importance in the dog world. Sheep farmers and shepherds still use Border Collies in their work.

Just like Australian Shepherds, you will find this breed as working dogs in the police force and as search and rescue dogs. They are trained to find human victims, drugs and explosives.

Various looks

Not all Border Collies look alike, as more emphasis was placed on qualities that enhanced the breed’s working ability rather than outward appearance. They are mediumbuilt, athletic dogs with semi-long and shorthaired coats. The black and white Border Collies are probably best known today, but there are also many other colours and combinations of markings. The colours include tri-colour (black, white and tan), chocolate, red, blue merle and sable.
