If you spend a bit of time with a truly happy horse, you’ll soon realise that there’s an awful lot he can teach you about living life to the fullest. Here, we look at just some of the life lessons our horses are trying to teach us – if we just listen!
1. LIVE LIFE IN THE NOW
Horses live in the present. They don’t dwell on the past, or plan for the future. They are here in the moment. This is a very valuable lesson for all humans. We spend so much time in our heads worrying about the past and planning for the future, but the only moment we can actually have any impact on is the ‘right now’. Take a leaf out of your horse’s book and try to focus on what you are doing in the moment, rather than on what you should have done yesterday or the chores you have to do tomorrow. It will make you an awful lot happier in the long run!
2. BEING OUTSIDE IS HEALTHY
As our horses know, spending time outdoors, rather than cooped up inside, is good for us. Being active and out in the fresh air is beneficial for both our physical and mental health. Horses who spend too much time indoors can develop vices, and gain weight… Sounds a lot like us, when we spend too much time in front of Netflix, with popcorn…
