‘Propelled into the dirt'

Tessa Waugh branches out from hunting and is reminded that the coloured poles can prove fiendish foes, while it transpires that she may have a canine crowd at Christmas, even if not a human one

ONE of the sheepdogs has been behaving strangely recently; disappearing for long periods, then reappearing looking furtive, depressed even. She didn’t come the other day when I went out for a ride.

“This winter lockdown is getting to all of us,” I thought.

And then a message pinged on my phone from Eildon, who helps with the horses.

“Meg looks very pregnant (pregnant lady emoji) and has boobs.”

I’m not sure if this is good or bad news. Also, is she? Meg is always rather stout, but it would explain her behaviour.

“Unless it’s something more serious,” added Eildon darkly, as we inspected her later on.
