JOCKEY Charlie Deutsch hailed trainer Venetia Williams "a magician" after the in-form duo teamed up yet again with a big race winner.
This time, it was the turn of quirky eight-yearold Gemirande to earn the silverware, repelling the challenge of favourite Madara, to land Saturday's Nyetimber December Gold Cup. Victory was a rich reward for Deutsch, who had to shed several pounds before the race to make his allotted 10st 2lb.
