Pink-footed geese have been sighted in significant numbers by wildfowlers and birdwatchers. Reports of skeins of geese arriving began to emerge from the Highlands, with Shooting Times readers in the Inverness area reporting a considerable night-time movement of geese on 14 September.
Goose guides on Orkney found pinks alongside greylags feeding on grassland and barley fields on the 15th.
