Martin’s birds have some new accommodation

Going Up In The World

Our chickens are going up in the world… with some new housing. Our big trio, Slasher, Priscilla and Hadron, now have a brand new house mounted on a DIY frame. Their existing home, an adapted lap woodshed, has given nearly 16 years of service and is showing its age, so has to go.

The new home is another adaption, a mini shed with a pair of double front doors and a hinged roof. It will be a lot easier to clean and keep bug free than its timber predecessor and has plenty of air circulation space. We’ve concluded that our ideal big flock size is five or six birds, and new house should give them enough room.
