Since we last spoke, Project Interceptor has been used as an office runaround. The perfect bike for those quick trips to the post office, Bunnings, bottle shop or wherever. That’s how we saw it in the beginning and it fills that role almost perfectly.
Almost?
Yep, almost. I’m not a fan of carrying a man bag and strapping parcels to the seat doesn’t thrill me or the people who receive them. I’d put a Ventura seat bag on and it was good, but a bit small for what I needed. I’ve used that same bag and seat bra on countless bikes over the years and it is still a beauty. About as waterproof as anything with two zippers can be, and better than any other seat or tank bag I’ve tried. But it couldn’t take a stack of magazines sitting flat.
A poke around in the shed turned up another Ventura bag. Maybe not at the top of everyone’s list of luggage but the Rally Euro bag can carry more crap than I want to carry with me. Along with the universal rack, or pack frame as Ventura label it, that bag has been swapped through a few bikes with nothing more strenuous than a change of L-brackets.
One phone call later, a pair of L-brackets landed at the post office. Undo four bolts and remove grab handle. Use the same four bolts and fit the two L-brackets. It happens almost as quick as it took to type that. Fit rack and tighten the swivel mounts. If you want to put the bag over the pillion seat, undo the two knurled locking devices and lift the rack out, turn it around and slot it back in. Tighten locking devices and away you go.
