It's big. It's bold. It's a masterpiece of intelligent technology and it's outright stunning. The best in its class right from its launch, it certainly didn't need to be bettered! But then, India's foremost luxury automobile brand Mercedes-Benz doesn't rest on its laurels. A reason why the E-Class, the bestseller in the luxury sedan segment, has got a magnificent update - with smart BS VI-compliant engines and even more premium features. Loaded with the most advanced driving and safety features, the car comes with a state-of-the-art cockpit, a steering-mounted touchpad and rear seats for club-class comfort. Add to it Air Body Control that makes the ride feel like a glide. The new E-Class certainly redefines intelligent luxury motoring.
The engines
When launched in India last year, the E-Class shook-up the genre with its longer wheelbase and the 37-degree reclining rear seats. Now, with the latest BS VI-compliant engine, the long wheelbase E-Class drives home the idea of responsible luxury. The new E-Class features two BS VI-compliant petrol and diesel engines, making the cars future proof as India moves to BS VI emission standards from April 2020 to check environment pollution. With this launch, the luxury brand has lived up to its commitment to make all its cars BS VI-compliant as soon as possible. Under its hood, you can choose from two powerful engine options - the 145 kW, 4-cylinder in-line petrol that can take you from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.0 seconds or the 143 kW 4-cylinder in-line diesel that takes 7.3 seconds to get from 0 to 100 km/h.
