Rylstone Classic
In only seven years, the Rylstone (pronounced Rileston) Classic has gone from being a cruise for a dozen mates in Minis to the biggest Mini touring event in Australia. With the slogan: ‘Pretend Rally; Real
Fun’, the 2017 event (19-20 August) attracted 140 cars and 252 crew members. While the majority were in mainstream Minis, of every variety, there was also a good contingent of Mokes as well as a handful of other BMC-derived cars; and even a couple of non-related classics.
Roger Fortune and Duncan MacKay volunteer each year to drive the sweep vehicle, towing a trailer in case of serious breakdowns. This year they looked like they had taken a wrong turn at Good wood, dressed in 1960s-style mechanics’ apparel.
