This 1967 Coronet R/T Is One of the Coolest Magazine Test Cars Ever. Now Its Story Can Be Told by the Man Who Still Owns It!

R/T” Dan Foley
The Legend

It’s hard to believe, but my 1967 Coronet R/T has survived hundreds of passes down the quarter-mile between racing and magazine product testing through the years. It has never let me down; it’s never been towed nor put on a trailer, and it’s always been driven to and from the dragstrip.

Some folks might think it’s familiar looking, or remember reading about this car’s many strip-testing adventures on the pages of High Performance Mopar and later Mopar Muscle magazines. The dependable Dodge could have been seen participating at show-and-go events over the last three decades at racetracks like Englishtown, New Jersey; Atco, New Jersey; Maple Grove, Pennsylvania; and Quaker City Dragway in Ohio. Thankfully, my R/T and I are still here to talk about our fun life and times together, dating back to the spring of 1979. And yes, in all those years, there were many occasions for impromptu street races, in which we wasted the likes of many Brand X domestics and imports.
