Dodge Viper ACR

My love for the Dodge Viper ACR was ignited with a perfectly innocent post on an online forum. Someone shared a fifteen minute clip of Randy Pobst comparing the Dodge Viper ACR to the Corvette ZR1 at Laguna Seca. Their benchmark was the Euro track favourite (at the time), the Porsche 991 GT3 RS. I was shocked that both US cars obliterated the Rennsport Porsche. The ACR impressed Probst the most and his opinion is worth taking note of because he is the undisputed king of Laguna Seca, holding a number of current and previous records at the track. In fact he currently holds the production car lap record in the Dodge Viper ACR at 1:28.65, the previous lap record was set in the Porsche 918 Spyder of 1:29.89 - by Probst too. The ACR has been cleaning up across the US, setting new lap records around a startling 13 tracks to date. Eleven of those were set by  Chris “The Wolf” Winkler, SRT vehicle dynamics and development engineer, however Dodge picked Probst to run at Leguna Seca because of his prowess at the circuit. The ACR is a real game changer for the Viper, bringing it firmly in contention to be the fastest analogue track car of all time.  The leap forward in performance compared to the previous Viper ACR is huge, demonstrated by the new ACR being 5.27 seconds quicker than the previous-generation Viper ACR around Laguna Seca. As soon as I’d watched the video I started to research how I could get one in the UK.
