Hill Climb For Hospice
The motorsport season has taken forever to get going this year: other than an outing to celebrate the opening of the Soweto Drift Academy back in March, my cars have been snoozing in the workshop since 2017!
Our first big event was the Jaguar Simola Hill Climb in Knysna. The Hill Climb is a superb event, bringing together an incredible mix of road cars and racecars to tackle the 1,9 km road at Simola. Friday showcases the Classics, with everything from Anita Cusens’ beautiful Fiat Abarth to Franco Scribante’s immaculate Chevron B19 storming up the Hill.
Franco Scribante was again crowned as Classic Conqueror, with a time of 42.196 seconds. It was brilliant to see some of the real classics out on the course, though, with a number of magnificent MGs, E type Jaguars and Mini Coopers showing off their paces. I think the Classic drivers have a huge amount of fun, with many of them arriving the week before the event to take part in the Motor Show, as well.
