There are so many issues in transport that we often overlook the obvious, especially when it comes to our health. There is one hugely important area that literally never sees the light of day. Considering we sit for long periods, do we ever think about the wide range of issues that can occur thanks to what is not only an unnatural way to sit but also prolonged periods of inactivity?
To my knowledge we have no education or CPC course highlighting the various issues that can arise from this area of the body. Maybe because we don’t see it and it doesn’t move, it becomes sort of invisible when we think about the things we need to look after. In fact, how do we even look after it? Surely it’s been a hot topic before now; surely there’s been an awareness campaign in the past highlighting the many issues? I hear nearside and offside every day but backside? Oh, that’s not important, we only sit on it all week at work.
