Operator Rogers Transport, Bramley
Simon Rogers always knew that he wanted to be a driver, and that’s why as soon as he left school, he signed up for his first driving job doing van deliveries - the only thing he could drive at the time because of his tender age.
However, he wasn’t satisfied with just being a driver for someone else – he wanted to be his own boss. So, as soon as he turned 18, he got himself a loan and bought a 7.5-tonne truck, and that was the beginning of his business, Rogers Transport. Initially he mostly delivered animal feeds, and, as demand for deliveries grew, so did the trucks Simon was driving. “It has all just expanded gradually from there,” he says.
Fast forward 28 years and Rogers Transport is a thriving operation. Based in Tadley near Basingstoke, the fleet now numbers 17, split roughly half and half between tractor units and rigids, along with 12 trailers – a mix of double decks, low loaders and curtainsiders. The fleet can be spotted working throughout the UK.
The latest edition to the Rogers Transport fleet is this striking Iveco S-Way. Simon has driven the S-Way himself and has been impressed with it. On long runs up to Scotland it has performed well, and he’s found it comfortable to live in when he has done nights out – but then he would as he generously specced it himself at the outset with all the mod cons the discerning driver would want.
