Since 1991, the ARBÖ Club has organised an annual VW Beetle meeting in Eggenburg. It’s held on May 1, which handily happens to be a bank holiday in Austria. Eggenburg is a small town (founded in 1277, currently 3500 inhabitants) in the Waldviertel region, 70km northwest of Vienna.
Easily the largest VW meeting in Austria, the event attracted more than 500 air-cooled Volkswagens this year, the sunny weather and high temperatures no doubt helping. Among them were Porsches, replicas, New Beetles and a few exotics like the Karmann TC and VW Brasilia.
