After spending some time living in an old bay window bus in the late 1980’s...

Kustom Komet Kamper
Back in 2013, Phil Adams remembered the experience, looked back on it with fondness, and thought he’d like to do it once again. At the time, his family were just about to sell their very standard, but very tired Autohomes T3 conversion. He jumped at the chance to buy it and took the opportunity to make a mark on the 27-year-old camper and to alter it to his own, very specific requirements. For those of you unfamiliar with the Autohomes ‘K’ range, the Komet was the ranger topper and the last to be introduced. A four berth, high roof model which complimented the existing four berth pop roof Kamper and the Kameo & Karisma two berth, high top vehicles.

The entire original interior was ripped out, the extensive wardrobe, cupboards, lockers and drawers that were fitted along the offside behind the driver’s seat were removed and replaced by a simple, curvaceous wooden kitchen unit in a pale wood which provides a base for the hob and sink.

Lance & Lisa Beaver tell the story of their...‘Old School' Westfalia Bay

The history of our bus is varied. I heard that it used to belong to a soccer player who lived in it for a while, and a tale of a cross country trip that was taken in it. Since we’ve owned it, we have been to numerous car shows with our car club Kahiko Kula and enjoy that immensely, but taking it camping is our joy.
