Kimberley Wong is a woman who exudes warmth and a ready smile of a service industry veteran and, possesses the tenacity and energy levels that drives her team towards the common goal.
She started her career with Shangri-La Hotel, Penang in the Sales and Marketing department. For 28 years in the hotel industry, Wong has held many similar roles in hotels locally and abroad where she spearheaded and directed new markets opportunities and, expanded business growth.
Currently, as the Plaza Premium Group’s Regional General Manager in charge of Southeast Asia, Wong shares with Business Today her extended portfolio in the organisation.
“Five years ago, when the Group called me for an interview, I did not know who they are and what’s their core business,” Wong recollects. When I spoke to Mr Song Hoi-see, the Founder and CEO of Plaza Premium Group, he shared his vision and how he started this business.
“The passion and drive Mr Song has for his company convinced me to take up the offer,” Wong says. For me, this is also another hospitality industry -- aviation hospitality -- which is slightly different from hotels but with my 28 years background in sales and marketing, I know I can contribute hence I took up the challenge,” Wong enthuses. My role is to handle the operations structure for the Group here covering Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Philippines, Bangkok and Maldives.
