Alia Bhatt reviews how her past films have sculpted her and what her future projects promise in conversation with Jitesh Pillaai.
We journos have seasonal likes and dislikes. But there are some who get under your skin and sedulously move into your hearts and turn it into marshmallow. She’s of that series. Alia Bhatt. She has mojo. She has FOMO. She has everything. She can be Sabrina. She can be Maria! There was a point when one would imagine Kajol in every conceivable role. Though she has yet to achieve Kajol’s gravitas or experience, Alia is soon becoming the sunshine girl. She can be sexy, saucy and the entire spice rack. Behind the vanilla there are also dark depths. We saw glimmers of that in Highway. She grew up at the track. Being Mahesh Bhatt’s fourth child, her trajectory can’t be anything short of edgy.
She came under fire for her general knowledge but like a true sport, she took it on the chin! And even did a spoof on it – the Genius Of The Year video. Her trysts with romance have been well chronicled. There’s been Varun Dhawan. Then there’s been Arjun Kapoor. Oh! Wait then Varun came back. Then she skipped to Siddharth Malhotra. Then there were murmurs about Shahid Kapoor too! Hello wait, there was also reports about Siddharth not taking kindly to Varun’s text messages to her. Wait! This is getting oddly confusing and has enough lather than a soap opera. But what the hell! She’s a wild child and chances of her turning into a goody two shoes are as remote as a hot day in Alaska. That then is Alia Bhatt. Clearly, the next No. 1. The girl who makes heads swerve. Her contemporaries Shraddha Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra love her! The guys also think she’s beyond cool. A win-win situation.
