SARA ALI KHAN
FIGHTING FIT

Fitness is a way of life a for our stars. It's not just about how you look but also about how you feel about yourself. There was a time when Sara Ali Khan weighed about a 100 kgs. Then she found her love for fitness and lost an astounding 40 kgs to pursue her dream at the movies. Namrata Purohit on the other hand was born with the passion of staying fit. Daughter of celebrity fitness expert, Sameer Purohit, Namrata was the youngest trained Stott Pilates instructor at the age of 16. She co-founded the Pilates Studio with her father in Mumbai. The paparazzi often park themselves outside her studio to catch a glimpse of the celebrities working out at her studio. Sara, one of her closest friends, is seen regularly at her studio. Namrata in turn has helped her understand what fitness is all about. We catch up with the duo to find out what it takes to stay in shape. Excerpts:

WHEN DID YOU REALISE YOU WERE PASSIONATE ABOUT FITNESS?

NAMRATA: I was born into a family where everyone is active and work out regularly. They just have fun working out. I was into multiple sports as a kid. I have played every sport there is. I took up squash professionally for a while, football and equestrian. Then I found Pilates and here's me doing it everyday.

SARA: Well, mine was a little later. For me, it was senior year of college. I was 96 kgs and only passionate about pizzas, chocolates and ice creams, in that order. When I'd come home, it would be pav bhaji, bhel puri and besan ladoos. I still secretly love these things. But I found my deeper passion for fitness in the senior year of college.

WHAT ARE THREE INDIAN SNACKS PEOPLE CAN HAVE AS HEALTHY MUNCHIES?

N: Bhel, a nice chana chaat...

S: Don't add imli chutney to it though, just put in the regular green chutney.
