The threat of Omicron was writ large over the proceedings but that didn’t deter the denizens of B-Town from making a beeline for the Taj Land’s End Mumbai, our venue for the MyGlamm Filmfare OTT Awards 2021. So we split the event into two, to follow covid protocols. And it must be said that the industry understood our concerns and supported our efforts wholeheartedly.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Manoj Bajpayee banter on the red carpet was to be seen to be believed. The duo weren’t cracking jokes with each other, they were kind of getting boisterous like school kids. Manoj at one point pinched Nawaz on the stomach with such force that the actor had to back off to nurse his injury. But he was still laughing while doing so. Shreya Dhanwantry too posed with them. She was concerned about Nawaz, who literally lifted her off the ground while hugging her to show he was alright and not seriously injured. Boys will be boys, as they say. Nawaz won the Best Actor In A Web Original Film (Male) trophy for Serious Men and thanked his director Sudhir Mishra for entrusting him with such an unusual role. He also singled out his screen son Aakshath Das for praise. The young actor, who was attending his first Filmfare event, beamed with pleasure over that. Manoj, winner of Best Actor In A Drama Series (Critics) trophy, too was generous in his praise. He said he was glad about winning the award for the second year in a row. He singled out Sharib Hashmi, saying that he was the happiest person around in the auditorium and deserved all the plaudits that came his way. Sharib indeed was high on energy and was buzzing from person to person in the venue, having a glad word with everyone. He deservedly took home the Best Actor In A Supporting Role In A Drama Series (Male) trophy for his role in The Family Man 2.
