Showstoppers!
Filmfare|November 30 2016

It was a night to remember as the stars brought out their best couture to play for the Absolut Elyx Filmfare Glamour & Style Awards 2016. These are the awards, which exclusively honour the pizzazz and the style quotient of tinsel town denizens. And they love to dress up and let their hair down for the evening that serenades the magic of fashion both in reel and real life. Here’s presenting a fly-on-the-chandelier account of the grand event…

Showstoppers!

Newbies Saiyami Kher and Harshvardhan Kapoor were among the first guests to arrive and were an instant hit with the paparazzi. Well, after doing the red carpet round, they decided to call it a night. Panic ensued when their names were announced – they both having won awards - and they were found missing. Frantic phone calls later, Saiyami, who stays close to the venue, thankfully came back but Harsh, trapped in the traffic, couldn’t. Saiyami was contrite about the snafu and kept apologising on both their behalf. Well, the ‘young and restless’ can only be loved…

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked ethereal and stunned every onlooker when she walked the red carpet. She was the cynosure of all eyes. The gorgeous La Bourjoisie gown she donned couldn’t have found a more befitting silhouette. Katrina Kaif was another bombshell who wanted her Cinderella gown to be displayed in full glory and a couple of twirls later was ready with the perfect pose.

Coming back to Ash, she clapped the loudest when father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan received his trophy. Our biggest moment came when diva Rekha went ga ga over Aishwarya and her exotic beauty. She recalled how years ago when she was driving, she saw this vision of beauty, ‘walking like a model’, ‘avoiding potholes’ and crossing the street… She stepped out of the car and hugged the girl, who turned out to be Aishwarya. Then, Rekha went on to reveal the secret of Ash’s beauty. According to Madame Re, Aishwarya’s mother Vrinda Rai had kept photos of Rekha around the house when she was expecting Ash and the result was for all to see. We believe you ma’am.
