Sidharth Malhotra opens up about love and other drugs to Rahul Gangwani.
Sidharth Malhotra is a busy man. One night he’s in Thailand shooting with Katrina Kaif for Baar Baar Dekho and the next day he’s flown down to Mumbai to promote Kapoor & Sons with Alia Bhatt and Fawad Khan. The same night he flies off to Ahmedabad for another work commitment and in the next breath he’s in Delhi for a family wedding. Phew! In between all the airport frenzy,I catch up with him during the 40-minute drive to his destination next. I learn a few things about him. That’s he’s in a comfortable and secure place in his career right now. That’s he’s aiming for the stars but still prefers to remain grounded. That he goes all out of his way to help his co-stars. That he’s settled in Mumbai but yearns for Delhi. That he loves his independence but craves for his family. That he’s an emotional and committed person but doesn’t shy away from acknowledging his frivolous days. That he’s deeply in love with Alia Bhatt but won’t accept it on record…
Your warmth towards Fawad Khan was noticeable during the promotions of Kapoor & Sons. Is this because, like you, he’s also an outsider?
Oh yes, of course! I could relate to what he was going through. He’s new to the industry and that’s why I tried my best to make him comfortable. During the promotions I could figure out where he was getting stuck or what he had apprehensions about. I was exactly the same four years ago. We had many chats with him. I reassured him that with time all would be cool. I made sure everyone got along during the film’s shoot. I threw a big party on the last day of the shoot for the entire crew. I’m glad I did it. There was no stress on the set because of the fun and games.
