Sonam Kapoor says what she means and means what she says. Raghuvendra singh enjoys the frank speak with the firebrand.
Sonam Kapoor may be the undisputed Queen of glamour. But that’s not the only side that makes her such an affable celebrity. Apart from her acting talent, she’s also a lady who loves to speak her mind. She’s always had a pro-feminist leaning and has maintained that women hold a position equal to men. In a candid but fiery avatar, one that’s surfaced at times on Twitter, she blasts the film industry’s patriarchal attitude. Yet, she maintains her characteristic elegance. And she can’t stress enough on the need to be a good person. You can be competitive but that doesn’t mean you can’t be sensitive, she believes. Reportedly, she has also signed with the United Talent Agency (UTA) of America. And we just can’t wait to watch the gorgeous Sonam spread her wings...
Neerja will remain a special film...
I worked as hard on Neerja as I worked on any other film. It did well. It’s done certain numbers. It also got critical acclaim. But so have my other films before Neerja. This is a special film about a special person. And that makes it special. Other than that I don’t expect anything. If you have no expectations you will never feel disappointed. I have only expectations from myself because it’s better to disappoint yourself than for others to let you down.
Would you be game to do more biopics? I’d love to do a biopic. If it’s well-written and it’s directed by someone competent, then why not? It would be interesting. But the Indian film industry doesn’t give content as much importance as it should. That’s why the industry is going through such a low right now. Unfortunately, we like to celebrate mediocrity.
