NICOLE KIDMAN IS PROUD TO HONOUR LUCILLE BALL IN HER LATEST FILM, BEING THE RICARDOS - JUST DON'T ASK ABOUT HER DAUGHTERS' OPINION OF HER WORK
MY KIDS THINK I TALK ABOUT THEM TOO MUCH!

They are both redheads and iconic superstars, albeit in the spotlight half a century apart. So, who better than Nicole Kidman to take on the role of comedy icon Lucille Ball? In Being The Ricardos, she plays the legendary star of I Love Lucy, who was America’s most successful comic actress of the 1950s.

The 54-year-old didn’t take her role lightly, spending time with Lucille’s daughter Lucie Arnaz to learn more about her mother. “I have daughters and if there was ever a film of me, I’d want them to bless it,” explains Nicole.

Lucille was a pioneer – an actress, wife and mother, and the first woman in the US to run her own studio. The film follows one drama-packed week in the production of her hit sitcom, with the spotlight on Lucille and her complex personal and professional relationship with Desi Arnaz, her husband on and off screen. “There were so many things in her I could relate to,” says Nicole, who shares daughters Sunday and Faith with husband Keith Urban, as well as Isabella and Connor with her ex Tom Cruise.

Here, the actress talks Oscars buzz, her “glorious” co-star, and the secret of her own successful relationship…

Nicole, you’ve been acclaimed for your performance as Lucille. What went into your transformation? It was a lot of watching her, absorbing her, talking to her daughter, watching documentaries, interviews, listening.
