As Queer Eye’s Bobby Berk puts it, “Sadly there are a lot of people in Hollywood you think are amazing and sweet, but then you meet them and your view is ruined,” but that certainly can’t be said about Bobby himself.

The interior designer is one-fifth of the show’s fab five, and when we catch up with Bobby, he’s just as warm and funny as he is on screen.

The show is up for seven awards at next month’s Emmys, and for the first time, he and his co-presenters – Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness, Antoni Porowski and Tan France – are in the running to be crowned Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Competition Program.

And Bobby, who hails from a rural religious community in Missouri and has been open about his experiences of homophobia growing up, can’t quite believe it. He tells us, “30-year-old Bobby wouldn’t believe this was his future if you told him, let alone 15-year-old Bobby!”
