The Spiritual Diet

Almost all of us have had a complicated relationship with food at some point in time. As our work lives become more gruelling, eating properly may seem like a hassle, which can get in the way of our health goals. How do we feel good about what we eat in today’s hectic world? Mindfulness, a practice that can be traced back to Buddhism, may be the answer. The approach encourages being more aware of the present moment and letting that awareness guide our choices. Holistic health guru Dr Mickey Mehta shares age-old tips to make our eating habits more mindful.

LEAVE THE CALCULATOR BEHIND

For an overall improvement in health, eating mindfully is essential. This means ditching the calculator and going by what feels good. Mickey explains, “The danger with counting calories is that it tends to take us away from eating nutritious food, which would be in vain. Tracking nutrients and calories should be put aside. It is important to know how food can energize you, revitalize you and regenerate you on a cellular level. It’s vital to let go of counting calories and start nourishing yourself.”
