Thyroid is a small butterfly-shaped gland located on the base of your neck. Meanwhile, at the base of the brain sits the pituitary gland, which secretes the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). TSH makes the thyroid produce and release thyroxine, the main thyroid hormone. Sometimes, the thyroid gland is underactive and doesn’t properly make or release thyroid hormones. This disturbance causes a lot of health problems.
The medical experts say that thyroid medicines are to be taken for life and people with thyroid can’t lose weight. Is it?! Do we live with thyroid medicines and weight gain throughout our lives?!
I don’t completely agree. Diet and other lifestyle changes make a huge difference in reversing thyroid and weight loss. When we align to the rules of nature, nature fixes us internally. We have had cases where thyroid dosage has reduced gradually and weight loss was a byproduct. The diet should have appropriate amounts of nutrients like selenium and iodine which are required to heal. It is mandatory that one gives some time to fix this as the problem did not occur inside the body in a week’s time. At least six to eight months of consistency and dedication is required as we need to change our lifestyle to see permanent changes… and that doesn’t happen in a day!
