A case of mistaken identity led to Chris Van Etten — a real-life wounded veteran, model and motivational speaker — being tapped to play the role of Amy’s brother, Chet, on GH.
“Honestly, I think this all started with the fact that Chris Van Etten, the new cohead writer of GENERAL HOSPITAL, doesn’t have a Twitter!” he chuckles. “My Twitter was just getting blasted with all these congratulations and I looked into it and realized they were talking about the other Chris Van Etten, so I was like, ‘Hey, congratulations to the other Chris Van Etten for his new position!’ And I think that caught somebody’s attention.” When GH reached out to him, “I was amazed,” Van Etten reports. “I got the email from Mark Teschner, the casting director, saying that he would like to talk to me and I was like, ‘Oh, man, this is becoming the real deal, I guess!’ ”
