"[GH's Drew, Cameron Mathison) should be spending more time with Liz, mourning more for Franco and taking a much greater interest in Liz's sons."
DREW WHO?
I have no issue with the performance Cameron Mathison is giving as GH's Drew, but I'm struggling to connect to the character because he has been so wildly reimagined from the guy we knew in Drew's original run on the show. His pull to Carly (and to Sonny, in a different way) makes no sense to me; Drew had made it a point to distance himself from both of them when he learned that he wasn't who he thought he was, meaning Jason. Carly gets to talk to pretty much everyone on the show about her emotions and problems - why must Drew be added to the list? Drew's lamentations over the death of Jason make even less sense. Drew barely knew the guy and when they were both on the canvas, getting to know him was of little interest to him. Okay, they had a brotherly moment or two in Greece, but the idea that Drew would constantly show up at the footbridge with Jason on the brain is pretty absurd. Quite frankly, Drew knew (better than most, arguably, since he had Jason's memories and therefore first-hand knowledge of his killings) that Jason was no saint. Drew speaks of wanting to reclaim the life he left behind, but it feels like the writers forgot — or at least, that they want us viewers to forget that the two people he was closest to in Port Charles were Liz and Franco. He should be spending more time with Liz, mourning more for Franco and taking a much greater interest in Liz's sons — boys he had his own close bond with. All of this is to say, GH writers: Let Drew be Drew!
