Not even a decade ago, George Clooney was one of Hollywood’s most notorious bachelors. After his 1989 marriage to actress Talia Balsam ended in divorce, the star had all but sworn off tying the knot again. “I was like, ‘I’m never getting married. I’m not gonna have kids,’” the 59-year-old told GQ magazine in a recent interview. “I’m gonna work, I’ve got great friends, my life is full, I’m doing well.”

Despite several long-term relationships in the late ’90s and early 2000s, Clooney couldn’t be pinned down – once admitting he lived a “very selfish life”. “I don’t blame them for wanting more from a relationship,” he’s previously said of his exes.

But that all changed when the star met humanitarian lawyer Amal Alamuddin (now Clooney) in 2013. “I didn’t know how un-full [life] was until I met Amal,” the Academy Award winner shared with GQ. “And then everything changed. And I was like, ‘Oh, actually, this has been a huge empty space.’”
