Marisol Nichols 'MY MOST IMPORTANT ROLE'

Marisol Nichols admits her character in Spiral: From the Book of Saw, tough police chief Captain Angie Garza, isn’t a typically female role in a horror flick. “You’re not going to see me running through the woods in a tank top screaming to get away from the killer,” the 47-year-old actress tells WHO over Zoom from her home in Los Angeles.

Despite the anomaly, Nichols thinks devotees of the Saw franchise are going to love it. “Fans will completely freak out,” she says. “We not only honor the original films but elevate it to a whole new level of scariness,” she explains.

The star, who is best known for her role as Hermione Lodge on Riverdale, admits she is a big fan of the genre. “I love a good thriller. I love to be scared.”

It takes a lot to frighten Nichols though. As sadistic as the villain in Spiral is, she has seen far worse – but not on a film set for a Hollywood blockbuster. In the most important role she will ever play, the mum-of-one puts her acting skills to good use, going undercover with law enforcement officers to help stop child sex trafficking.
