Ammu woke up startled hearing the repeating alarm of fire engines.

A Talk With The Fireman

She gazed at the road from the courtyard. Fire has struck somewhere, she thought. She skimmed through news channels on TV curiously. She could not find any news on fire attack. The fire engines returned to the station silently after some time. Suddenly, a vehicle broke down in front of her house. Ammu strolled to the road to see what was happening.

“Where is the fire accident uncle?” Ammu wanted to know.

“A jewellery showroom in the city struck by fire. Our timely interference avoided a disaster,” Fireman replied.

“Uncle, aren’t you afraid to extinguish fire?,” She asked the fireman.

“The tummy of this fire engine is filled with water. Then what to fear?” fireman told pointing to the watertank of the vehicle. Ammu liked the humour in the fireman’s answer.

“Uncle, who invented these methods to extinguish fire? Is it you firemen?”
