£4.99/month (Apple Arcade) FROM Konami, konami.com NEEDS macOS 11.0 or later
Going strong since 1986, Castlevania is a series beloved the world over. That’s why the latest instalment on Apple Arcade, Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls, is such a disappointment. That’s not to say it’s a bad game, but it’s certainly not a great game.
Grimoire of Souls sees Dracula return for the umpteenth time (apparently no one’s learned the old stake-through-the-heart trick) and he must be purged from the world by Genya Arikado and a roving band of characters from past games, including Alucard, Simon Belmont, Charlotte Aulin, and others. Our heroes delve into mystical Grimoires – ancient books that contain info on past Castlevania events – and cleanse them of evil before Dracula can be resurrected.
