Ultra-powerful new MacBook Pro chips
M1 Pro and M1 Max

The M1 Pro and M1 Max take Apple Silicon performance much further, making the new MacBook Pros truly pro.

One of the most important changes for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops comes to the chips powering them. The M1 Pro and M1 Max are the fastest chips Apple has made so far – and some of the fastest chips available in any laptop.

While the CPU in the M1 was an eight-core chip comprising four high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores, the M1 Pro and M1 Max expand that configuration and push it more towards the performance end of the spectrum. Both the M1 Pro and the M1 Max come with eight high-performance cores and two high-efficiency cores – while there are only two more cores than the M1, there are double the number focused directly on performance instead of efficiency.
