9 Fitness Activities You Can Do On A Budget
Speed Philippines|April 2018

Summer is here, and with it comes the lure of beach trips and a stronger motivation to get in shape so you can flaunt a fit and toned body. Don’t be daunted by the price of gym memberships or specialized workout studios. The trick is in knowing what kind of exercise will motivate you to come to class regularly because getting multiple class packages usually allow you to save more.

9 Fitness Activities You Can Do On A Budget

Here are nine different workouts that will help you achieve desired results without compelling you to break the bank. Pick what complements your busy lifestyle, fitness goal, and budget.

1 BOXING

Beyond being able to hit with your fists, boxing involves a lot of running, jumping, footwork, twisting, and bending as you punch and jab, giving you a total body workout.

Benefits: Boxing combines calisthenics and aerobic routines with bursts of high-intensity activity to give you that cut physique you see on professional fighters. It can aid both men and women in effectively burning calories and toning muscles all over the body, especially on the arms, shoulders, core, legs, and back. Bonus: Hitting a punching bag or throwing all that pent-up emotion behind a forceful punch using your whole body makes for an amazing release of negative energy.

What you need: A pair of boxing gloves you can get for P800 to less than P2,000 (depending on the brand), as well as hand wraps for P280 to P400 a pair.

COST: One of the more affordable workout options, boxing will cost you around P150 to P350 per session, with a P500 annual membership fee. Some gyms even offer weekly rates for as low as P250 and monthly rates at P900.

2 SWIMMING

If you don’t know how to swim yet, it’s best to start with some lessons at a local pool. Learn the basics to get you through several laps: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and eventually, butterfly. Just stay afloat.
