Etiquette tips when sharing your “blessings” on social media

Be #Blessed Without Bragging
Passed your recent licensure exam? On an out-of-town vacation with your family? A bouquet of roses and a life-sized teddy bear on your second anniversary? Let’s face it. We’ve all bragged—humblebrag or outright—about something on social media. It’s nice to see people being happy or proud about something, but what we don’t realize is that sometimes, we’re already showing off.

This season of cheer, avoid getting carried away with #blessed posts and keep the modest spirit of Christmas alive. Here are some social media etiquette tips:

SHARE THOUGHTFULLY

What you might perceive as sharing might look like boasting for others; so share with caution and do not over-post. If you’re going away on a vacation, share your experience by posting pictures of your destination’s breathtaking views, Instagrammable food plating at a restaurant you’ve eaten in, or a scene from activities like sailing or diving. Don’t flood your friends’ feeds with photos of your passport, your ticket, your delayed check-in ... basically the entire process of your travel from point A to B.

Keep your posts to a minimum. Share a picture or two, or maybe dump them all in one album for those who really want to see what you’ve been up to. Besides, you’re on vacation, remember? It would be wise to enjoy your downtime instead of using up all your time posting on social media.
