Not everyone can afford solar panels. Or not just yet.

Sure, corporate businesses today invest in solar energy for long-term energy savings. Developed countries are transforming communities and villages into solar hotspots. But for developing countries, the case may not be the same. Only a handful of business establishments and middle-class families can afford the technology. Where could the problem be?

STANDARD AND SUBSTITUTE

Crystalline silicon solar panels have set the standard in solar energy because of their efficiency and longevity; these can last as much as 20 to 30 years before requiring a replacement.

But while it is the most popular type of solar panel now, it remains a costly package for several consumers. Scientists are continuously searching for more cost-effective alternatives.
